For just a little sugar

by Keith D Allison

For the taste

The caress of the senses

The fantasy

In the movement of butterfly wing

Too old to dream

So I’m told

For the heart is cracked

But the feet still move

No salt

But a drop of sea salt

Might be stole

For motionless food

Oh

For the sweets of night

One might

Sell

The soul

Sometimes the price seems right, doesn't it?

Yes it seems those sweets are still worth it after all that can happen. ~JPP

A poem definitely with individual interpretation! The "sweets of night" a significant analogy for temptations that giving into could destroy the soul! "What does it profit a man if he should gain the whole world and lose his own soul?" (Jesus speaking.)

It's worth much more some nights. But on an evening when the air is hot and anything seems possible, attainable, and within reach...A soul is all one has to give and so we give it. Wilingly and happily. You write it well. Congrats
