Sonnet

by Joe Cramer

She leaned forward, and much to my surprise

While sharing so much of herself, I looked.

I had to say something, to the demise

Of my addled brain, I knew I was hooked.

Now babbling onward in some arcane thought

I thusly stuttered, stammered out a word.

If just to smile, and not to stare, I ought

To leave the music of my heart unheard.

Once again, I would have crushed you to me

Holding you to my wildly beating chest.

When hear you, I feel my heart is set free

So I stutter, stammer, you know the rest.

To share with you, so much more poetry

This is the only way that it could be.
