I knew you when

by Robin Patterson

I knew you when.... the softness
of your lips
so expertly grazed my
warmest desires

I knew you when.... the cries
of your heart
so softly blanked my
darkest passion

I knew you when.... the touch
of your body
so eagerly filled my
inner seduction

But I never knew... my soul
would weep
so deeply
for every moment
I knew you when

Robin, the bittersweet and melancholy tone of this poem makes me want to cry. Love can be such a joy, but the pain in it can also be incredibly gut-wrenching. Beautiful words, simply said.
