Natural Born Fact

by Thomas K. Hunt

Faces across the table
Lost to memories
Souls on the other side
Are the reason I am me

It’s hard to just let go
It’s the way it has to be
Dig another hole
Bury another piece of me

It’s hard to take
It’s hard to just sit back
It makes it harder
Just to face the fact

Life goes on
I have living proof of that
Every life dies
That’s a natural born fact

I can feel this and have been there as well. Sadness woven with plain truth...good writing.

I love the lines: "Souls on the other side / Are the reason I am me." Very true. Even though a body dies, precious parts of that being are left behind in all who have come in contact with it. Nice job, Thomas.
