Non-Crap Love

by Jayme L Helmick

he said, and chuckled
perfectly aware of my perception
and misconception
of a life held apart
and torn apart
by childish expectation

so he held my hand
through the wires of space

and I couldn't help but think:
this is non-crap love
not fraught with romance
and melodrama
and the never-dying need
to hide

this friendship,
this person,
is true
this relationship,
this moment,
is clear

and much cleaner than the pile of crap I usually shovel.
