Summer Revisited

by Tracy Ellen

A couple Corona’s and lime
In my little red cooler
Beach umbrella and chair
Bamboo flip-flops
New bathing suit
Good sci-fi book tucked in the beach bag
A quick stop at the produce stand
For hot Cajun boiled peanuts
A short walk through the bird sanctuary
Pass the lagoon
To the primitive beach
Natural sand dunes
Dotted with scrubby, tuff plants
And grass and strange beach bugs
Sand crabs and seagulls scatter at my approach
A gentle breeze, a calm gulf
Soft, warm sand, an empty beach
Perfect.
Damn, I’m lucky.
