east pier

by Peter Humphreys

not
one by one
but
two by two
the lights
flicker on
to fill
the cold
dark winter
night
with fright
and lights
as dippers
dip
and
round about
the children
squirm and
lovers learn
the patient
rewards
of longing
as in
the sky
they swarm
and fly
as smoke
upon the breeze
the starlings
play for
home
I love the night
you love me bright
we love the
dim dark
heavens

Strong atmoshere of twoness and looking out into the dark world, together. The sharing, and the sparkling. Wonderful feelings as one walks out on the pier of this poem.

Hi Peter. Beautiful, and "light" as can be! Delighted. Thanks.
