It Begins

by Tony Whitaker

Looking deep
into desperate eyes
madness sweeps
into the moment
pondering the move
the pendulum
changing direction
keeping time
to clockwork lives

The heat unbearable
across the
cold landscape
between bodies
with minds
begging for the touch
the kiss
blinding the
senses as skin
rubs against skin
in the friction
of the fervor

Entangled torsos
writhing
this beast
with two backs
lost in a wilderness of
lust
with self-filled senses
steaming
for the peak of release

Naked bodies
becalmed
dew collects on
wilted frames
unable to function

Reality setting in
the affair begins

Hi Tony. Love this, especially: "the pendulum/changing direction/keeping time/to clockwork lives". Nice work. Thanks.

Love the title, and all left unsaid. This is a moving piece. The ending is strong, and connects with the title in a beautiful way. And it gets actross the feeling that before, the two come together, bridging the "cold landscape" between people, they "touch" in passion, but after, by the end, the "relationship" the "affair" really starts and what is to come is "it".
