Desolation by Joe CramerMy life reeks of desolation
Smelling worse by the day.
The hours pass without elation
My mind wanders in this way.
The lonely hours draw nigh
Through the quiet of the night.
I am left fraught, wondering why
I go on, without a fight. 11/17/1980 Posted on 03/22/2007 Copyright © 2025 Joe Cramer

The last line is especially telling, because it's a question only a person who's in that emotional morass can answer. The answer lies within and comes from the fact that there is never a complete lack of hope -even in death promises exist.
