Winter's Kiss

by Charles J Hannan

While cruising on high spirits and warmer breezes
As I go speeding by
I notice the wonderful flowers begining to open
Sleepy-eyed as 6am
Colors as striking as grandma's Sunday dress
As I go whisking by
The little lambs are playing in the pastures
With thier mothers standing close at hand
Everything is brighter
On a day like today
A reminder of how life can be so good
Even if you are on your way to work or not
Gliding by
I see those big belgian horses in the field
They look like they could pull a Mack truck
I know they should be ready for spring
They stand out there every day
Pedaling by
I feel a slight chill in the air
Ducking down low
I zip up a little more
Spring is not quite here
This I see before me is a teaser
Mother Nature's game she likes to play sometimes
Tapping you on the shoulder
And giving you a winter's kiss
But I'm a southern boy from Alabama
Those kisses I could do without
As I go speeding by
My thoughts are of high spirits and warmer breezes

Author's Note: I love it here in Belgium, but it would be great to have that Alabama weather.
