The BHT

by Janine Euladia

Chapter one
She leaned into the window "Rick, hurry come over here!" She called
He ignored he, and remained stoically glued to the spot where he was doing nothing except actually heading her direction. But, he stopped short at her demand. She continued "Oh my the squirrels are so cute, they are chasing each other all over the yard" He hated her running commentaries. He walked to the couch and lie down drifting off immediatally, her commentary his blankett. He got so much joy falling asleep when she was talking, basically wanting his attention.

After the last dish was done and the squirrel show long over she walked over to the couch she looked down on her husband, shaking her head pitifully she thought "what an asshole." She knew his bullshit, after all he even confided in her one night, the only time he ever got high on crystal meth. He apologized to her, he confessed to her about his insecurities. How it brought about this desire to hurt her, controll her, how he hated himself for it and wanted to change. It didn't fix him though, the next day he was twice the asshole. Even counceling didn't help. The saddest thing was she hadn't left him and knew she should have. But, now she had other plans for him, after all she was quite certain no one would miss him if something went wrong.
Wheeling the cart over to him she fiddled with the wires, she hooked electrodes to him, without a second thought wham! She flicked on the switch. His hair stood on end, his eyes bulged, his entire face and body went ridged, and remained frozen for near a minute until a blinking light and bleeping sound were heard. "That was quick" she muttered, "guess there wasn't much in there". He went slack, the couch groaned under his weight. She had one minute to begin to upload the new programming into his brain, she worked fast, first the anti-rejection accupuncture. Needles placed in the precise spots would override the body's natural rejection attemps of the unfamiliar electrical impulses. Next she got the first dose of anti rejection serum in the syringe. If the mental lobotomy was successful he would need daily anti-rejection injections for the rest of his life. She wrote that right into his program. The program was brilliant, he will believe he himself planned/requested the mental lobotomy. Reversing the polarities of the electrodes she opened the file and began uploading "upgrade" into the now empty shell of her once nasty husbands shit filled mind. Her thoughts wandered to memories of the simple innocent young woman she used to be. When she actually thought, just being herself was enough. And that he loved her, and would never try to hurt her. But, year after year the abuse continued. And two years ago the "dreams" began. That was when she went to Dreamland University and aquired her BHT degree (Bad Husband Transformation.) And in Dreamland this was a very legal procedure, as were all things in Dreamland, where the saying was... "In dreams all things are possible". Now while awake she finally applied her Dreamland BHT to practical use. Another beeeping was heard jarring her brain back to the present moment. "Well, 2 minutes more material went in than came out, your not such a simple mind anymore!" she thought and she quickly inserted a syringe deeply into his jugular after applying a numbing solution. The first shots always the hardest she heard over and over in her mind. The rest were to be given in the rump. She removed the needle and dabbed a tiny drop of blood on his neck. He would sleep about 8 more minutes before awakening. She was so excited and nervous, "pray everything will work as planned" she said over and over, while setting the cart in the incinerator. Then glancing in the mirror she skipped off to the bathroom to freshen up.
