I Felt You This Morning

by Rhonda Maneki

I felt you, stir,
I knew you woke,
You thought of me,
as your hand slid
across the sheets,
to where I
should be.

Oh, I heard you sigh,
as You closed
your eyes.
Reaching out over the
sea, touching me,
caressing me,
with your thoughts,
so tenderly.

I wept inside,
Hiding those tears
which shimmered
within my eyes,
that amazing
connection,
which always draws me
into your embrace.

I wept,
silently,
I wept.

I sensed your breath,
upon my consciousness,
as you sat up in bed.
Your sheets still warm,
comforting,
around You.

I felt the warmth,
of your heart as it beat
in unison with my own,
the yearning of your soul,
the ache in your chest
a melody to mine.

I heard you sigh again,
as your feet
touched the floor
I knew you
wavered a moment,
Missing me...

I tasted your tears,
as they gently became
part of me, the essence
of you within myself.
The two of us united
as you reached for me
within the depths
of you.

I felt you,
this morning when
you awoke,
I felt you, within me.
