having slept. by Meghan Helmichyour salty fingers wrap and
place dirty bay water
into my sheets, on the pillows
we have shared. i will try to breathe
it in as deep as i have space.
hold this watery breath until i win
something.
any sense i make of your squinting
eyes is useless when i open my mouth.
the words i allow myself to say
mean nothing of value or significance.
what i want to say is too precious,
too much for you to embrace in
large fists. 03/14/2007 Posted on 03/14/2007 Copyright © 2025 Meghan Helmich
