ode to you

by Nikki Benson

I’m fine without you

As long as I don’t think

Or feel or dream about you

I’m fine without you

As long as I don’t think

Or feel or dream about you

My eyes ran dry

But the feeling in my stomach

Comes and goes

In my minds eye

I’m better off without you

I’m the better of me and you

Pull out my heart

Squeeze till the blood falls - Into black and white,

I feel defeated

Another diatribe

Cheers, here’s to you

I’m fine without you

As long as I don’t think

Or feel or dream about you

I’m fine without you

As long as I don’t think

Or feel or dream about you

this poem is raw & emotional. simple...but necessarily so. to the point & driven. the repetition drills the point home...angst all over the place, but with just enough resolve to give the reader hope. pretty & encouraging. nice stuff nikki. :)...his loss, as always.
