didn't say stay.

by Meghan Helmich

this pulls my stomach in your lap,
imagining flight, wings straight
as your forehead. frowns for me.

there are goodbyes, and i am washed ill --
you wipe my face with your smile.
i am going to pull your fingers across states.

i will curl, round myself in
new sheets. old familiar smells
that you don't hang from anymore.
