I'm Gone

by Tony Whitaker

Been working all my life
lost in a lie
we all can recite
friends, family and for me
a second wife

Flown from Boston to Buffalo, Orlando
to Buffalo
feel like a roadie
in a rock and roll show

'Cause I feel
so damn cold
can’t ride
this same old road no more
so I’m leaving
yes…
yes…
I’m leaving

Some say I had it made
the house
and the bills are all paid
God I'm tired, of this masquerade

Darling
time for me to go
cause we lost it
a long time ago
so bored of this Broadway show

'Cause I feel
so damn cold
can’t ride
this same old road no more
so I’m leaving
yes…
yes…
I’m leaving

Some will see what I left behind
and say
committed a crime
I got to live
not leave life behind

'Cause I feel
so damn cold
can’t ride
this same old road no more
so I’m leaving
yes...

yes...

I’m...

gone

Author's Note: This is really a song I wrote in the key of G. The melody is somewhat similar to 'Willin', by Little Feat.

The "cold" in this poem gives it an original feel, more than just a leaving song, but the coldness gives realization.
