We Sat

by Jeffrey Parren

We sat
Eating sandwiches
On a warm day in July
Blue and white flannel blanket

We laid
Gathering rays of sun
To golden our pasty bodies
Cold months had stripped our color

We laughed
Over dinner anywhere
Couple cocktails and food
Sampling and sharing life's happiness

We danced
Like no one was watching
Until the music stopped or we did
Because the night wasn't supposed to end

Together...and they all ended the same way
with us unable to disregard our endless passion
at the same time lunging for one another while grasping
holding on and kissing, like no one else had ever kissed before us.

I sit
Writing this poem
With you on my mind always
Though I haven't met you yet.

I like the difference in style and approach between this one and the other piece I read. You really move between them quite seamlessly. And I like your use of repetition here. Nice work.

reading through this one reminds me of those lines from 'Field of Dreams'... 'if you build it, it will come'... just like love, when your heart is ready, love will appear..aloha and thank you for stopping by.. alisa;-0
