Out Here

by Alisa Js

I have found myself standing in the middle of
this amazing concert hall,
How did I get here?
Magic, I believe ...

These notes that dance around my head
Cry and sigh with great expansive breaths,
So sad they are to bring this news
Of truth and circumstance,
Blinding snow crushed my reason
What was I thinking?
Oblivious to the tune
Not cognizant of the key
All the while I kept on singing
Like a fool in June on her wedding day
Who gets the year wrong
But shows up anyway ...

Turn around to see the truth
Run right behind the stage,
Exit right or left
No matter
Excuses fill a hundred pages
Of nothing more than incidental shmooze

And to think all this time
I understood
and reasoned well, reasonably
ha!

Careful with those tattered seams
They fall apart in torrential rain,
Should have worn another heart
To wrap around this ghost of one ...

This is lovely, emotional, vivid...I'm with Tom, I love the last stanza. Such a powerful work Alisa. (((hugs))
