It has proven difficult
To describe you in any meaningful way
Images won’t come, words won’t stick
Metaphors seem quite inadequate
Stream of consciousness won’t even do the trick
It has proven easy to love you
To let you in, it’s just like you’ve always been
Hiding there in my heart
I truly hope that my gratitude and loyalty
Are as clear to you as they are to me
And that my love is as easily received
Hopefully, one day I will find a way
To express what it is I see
And to thank you wholeheartedly for saving me.
