Blue Pacific

by Alisa Js

I watched as their vessel slowly sank
beneath the horizon,
in a flash it was gone
sea worthy?
I think not as life rafts appeared
frantic passengers jumped,
to where they believed was certain refuge
safe from the depths deep below ...

feels like my soul
on this evening in May,
standing on the shoreline
of an island someplace
in this blue Pacific,
this ocean called home
out here,
so far
from anyone that matters
anyone that cares ...

I walked to my car and turned the key
sat in my seat and stared,
at nothing, actually
and thought of a melody
I used to know
from a happier time way back when,
I hummed it off key
and it brought me some solace
in a weird kind of way,
I shifted the car into gear ...

This was bittersweet mingled with sadness - I have also stood on that shore and wondered about this Island, the Ocean and a life raft. *hugs* love Rhonda, sharing muh coconut and pineapple...xoxo
