Magical Memories
by Matthew Taylor3 rings circus! roller coaster!
step right up! one win takes choice,
said the bellowing , yet youthful voice..
strolling down the midway at vast amusement park,
maybe this time we can stay 'till it's dark..
and see the lights, when they're lit,
but we always leave and miss that..
by a bit.
'cept a couple of times
I did get to see, in awe ,
slightly creepy too,
in the day it all looked new,
now it's lighted , it seems a bit dull,
and less fantastic,
light reveals, light excites, light delights..
the screams are fewer from the rides,
light hides...
I can smell the vinegar now,
poured on french fries in a cup,
cotton candy is spun..what fun!
it is hot outside, but I can't remember
it making me less comfortable..
looking at the new red convertible,
wishing, dreaming, hoping,
to be a teenager in love
that was my goal, so near and yet so far,
both then and now in different directions.
still magic, a bit tragic,
but mine forever more...
priceless.
