waiting outside the parameters
seemed normal, so she gave it no thought,
with her lopsided smile
and head full of curls
she brought sunshine
to all who brushed by ...

in the heat of a moment
in a flash
changed the course of her life
no longer was innocence a factor,
her sun turned toward darkness
smiles slipped away,
on that day that was chance
or was it?

what part does free will really have?
and how much does destiny control
if one keeps running up mountains
on water slides
at what point do you stop?
to realize it's a fool's game
this race toward the unknown
and slow down ...
