Found My Missing Peace Today

i didn't know it had slipped away
lost among the million shards
of our broken hearts
baby, when we called it quits
i must have just forgotten it
left it right where it lay
as i walked away
and somehow i moved on
though a part of me was long gone
i've tried to live and love again
but nothing's ever felt same
i'm hollow and all broken up
and nowhere close to good enough
my weary heart still has to roam
'cuz no place ever feels like home
and i've been running to find
that part of me i left behind
i'm hitting walls and breaking hearts
while silently i fall apart
then today i heard your voice
and understood i've had no choice
'cuz home is where the heart is
and my heart is where yours is
but there's just too much
between then and now
i wish we could
but i don't know how
so i guess that i'll just close my eyes
and fight the tears as i realize
i found my missing peace today
