Shoreline of Impossibilities

by Lisa Marie Brodsky

Your history lies in Cornwall:
fishermen back to the 1600s.
Your mythology, for me, is gladiator
in a steel world, an engineer
with a poet’s sensibility.
You are tall and sturdy in my visions.
I am lost against your fingers, lost, lost…
filled with your focused light.
You are my lighthouse
and alone, in the night,
I turn toward wherever you are on the globe,
you who I was never intended for.
