"She Sees Snow"

by Cristy M.

She giggles a fury
of rosy cheeks
and light blue scarves
pink petticoated
all while whiring
on the sidewalk
saying things like,

"Footprints snow
a fall-leaf show
under a glass
like specimens of
here."

She leaves a trail
of prints down
mountain and runs
back to examine
pink petticoated
the branches lopped
in clumps
saying things like,

"It's ice packed
tiny sno-cones
waiting for fruit
punch trickled on
for the tasting."

She leans in closely
and blows warm kisses
like puffs of clean
steam that end
pink petticoated
with snowflakes
saying things like,

"In this air
my kiss lasts longer
but is captured
before you, love,
receive it."

You grab a flake
like diamond and
cup it in your mitts
she paws at it
pink petticoated
with cotton digits and
smiles red-lipped
kisses on your wrist
till the sec comes
she invites herself in
pink petticoated
for some cocoa.

(Where she's
from there are only
two seasons
and neither is
white like this.)
