Collab. with Alaina Schneider by Arthur Partenshe tells me colorado's not far enough away
and punctuates it with an angry laugh
break mend rebreak makes bones brittle
ages her brother fast and hard
she's grown to ache with the changes too
she tells me the story with a monotone regret
as the words come miles between denver and her
increase exponentially like a rand mcnally map
unfolding and unfolding against cartilage
she tenses up and breathes hard
she tries to blow the girl farther away
so she might not see him stumble in drunk
self medicating the cuts from hearing
how she fucked him or him or him
and i let my ears bleed dryer because
he's in colorado and she's not
there's a distance
as she capitalizes on the abuse of it all
the dirty and sultry parts of a modern tragedy
i remember bones. they turn to ash and dust
from the particles she'll make something
worth the burn of separation 02/16/2007 Posted on 02/17/2007 Copyright © 2024 Arthur Parten
