To Burn a Kiss

by Joe Cramer

I lit  some candles before you stopped by,

To burn a kiss between our lips

As we held each other

Through the night.

Did you notice that  in the time we spent

Together, the phone never rang?

No knock upon my door?

The wine was dry, bittersweet

While all I wanted was to light a candle,

And burn a kiss between our parted lips.
