How Well We Get Down

by Jeffrey Parren

I drink your steam
So joyfully extricated
As we eye to eye
I can't help but notice
How infatuation works
How well do we get down?

You get flustered and red
Your skin is visibly flush
So into it all
I forget your commandments
You forget my atheism
How well we do get down!

You understand what I need
I find out in you
Your deepest fears; desires
I tell you about death; loss
We grow closer than ever before
How well we are getting down.

Familiar and this are different
Once I thought I knew
But now everything is different
We can never go back after
This coffeehouse conversation
How well we got it done.

Author's Note: I reposted this because some formatting from MS Word came over during the copy paste process it seems, so this should be cleaner and more poem looking. Some small changes as well.

I like the "progression." Nice work.
