Comrade

by Kitty Ness

Comrade, give me a gold star
We can split it up five ways
One for me, one for you,
And three for anyone who cares

We make lists and read books,
And in them there is only us
The world gets smaller
Polar ice caps melt away every gold star left,
Except ours

Pick a page
And there we'll be

"One for me, one for you, And three for anyone who cares" - I adore this poem far too much, particularly those lines there. The poem is short, sweet, subtle, simple... Brilliant. I really like it; an excellent work!
