The Purest Poem

by Jason Hannigan

I read it, every word,
And can’t help but admire such brilliance.
It reminds me of the love
That we once shared so openly,
Such happiness as in your poem
I will never forget.
Such perfect words
That ring clear in my mind,
The best I’ve ever read from you;
Inspired by the purest resolve.

I am strong,
I have been hurt before
So there are no tears on my face,
But I still cry in my heart.
For the poem that I
Forced myself to read
Was never made for me.
