The Dance

by Jason Hannigan

My life was once described
As an ever-frozen winter,
An endless night of silence.
A stillshot of a dancefloor
Clutched tightly in my hands.
The coalition of lonliness
That slumbered in my heart.
But something has awakened
And my sunrise has now come,
Shimmering with the colors
That can be seen in the morning light.
The silvery rays penetrate the ice
And my soul thaws into spring.
I can hear the music
Of a thousand melodies
To which I can now caper
On the floor of which
I was once afraid.
But I can now dance
To all the happiness
Of which I had ever dreamed
Because now I get to dance,
Because I can dance with you.
