When He Loves You

by Rhonda Maneki

You know he loves you :

He brings you flowers that he picked from the garden,
the garden he loves and shares with you, the flowers
he choose for your wedding bouquet,
the way he wrapped them a beautiful ribbon
which matched your dress.

He loves your skin, he touches you, as if your the most
fragile beautiful creature on earth.
He catches his breath, his fingertips follow
each delicate curve as if you were a work of art,
he closes his eyes and whispers how beautiful you are.
In that moment you feel as if your are the most
remarkable beautiful woman alive,
and in his eyes you are.

He loves your hair, the feel of it, he tenderly
draws his fingers though the silken strands,
he plaits your hair, lovingly makes pig tails
and pony tails, while you sit between his parted legs
on the floor talking about his day. He is so sensitive
and unselfish, insisting you speak of your day first,
while he ties pink ribbons around each pig tail,
ponytail or braid. You both smile, and you love him
so much you wear them and yes, even in public.

He rushes across the parking lot when you begin
to drown in a mud puddle. You playfully jump up and down
waving to him, - yelling -
"I'm melting",
he of course, being so much the gentleman and chivalrous,
runs out into the pouring rain to rescue you
even in his deep embarrassment, because you were
being super silly and he knew it all along. but,
loved you that much. He scoops you into a huge embrace
and smiles lovingly knowing your a drama queen
and will always be unpredictable.
And yet, he adores you anyway...

He holds you while you cry at movies,
as something moves your soul, he is there..
He offers his silk tie for you to blow your nose,
or wipe your eyes, even if its his best tie, he strokes your
tears away from your face, kisses each one gently..
he removes his tie to give it to you, ah,
but, he is prepared he brought another tie -
just in case you wept. And ties are the only thing
that works on your tears and he knows it...

He laughs, he has a belly laugh, a laugh that reaches
his eyes and shines so brightly, at your silly jokes,
oh, but, his jokes are always much better and he
delivers then when you are in the middle of
swallowing that mouthful of tea, you end up spitting
it out all over him,how blushing red you are -
when he laughs and kisses you - then tells another one.

He is supportive of all your family and friends,
he supports them, goes out of his way to lend and ear,
a shoulder and his innate wisdom.Regardless of what is
going on in his work life, he finds time for you
and anything that concerns you.

He prepares a soothing bath in the evening,
undresses you and washes your back, your hair,
even after his long day.

He pulls the covers down on the bed, fluffs your
pillow, he does it with love..

He makes breakfast the next morning before
he goes off to work, He makes sure you have everything
you need for the day. He leaves that silk tie with his
scent on it, his sweetness, his soul shines though,
He likes to know you are feeling his closeness, because,
you love the security of his being with you,
even in the form of his scent, his tie, his pink shirt
that he always makes sure is there for you.

He calls to make sure your alright during his
hectic day, he makes room for you when there
is no room to be found, but, he will find it.

He emails many times, just to say "I love you"
to make sure all is well, His thoughts wrap
around you as gossamer ribbons of exquisite emotion,
caressing your soul, soothing the day,
as each thought filters down into
your consciousness,
settling within you..

You have no doubt - that he loves you.

Delicately expressive and rich with the details that explain. His attentivenes and sensitivity and you so intently appreciative. So sweet and as lovingly intricately woven as one of his braidings. I love the mud puddle. We are are quite in tune...(giggle).

I am lucky enough to have a woman that I have loved the same way for the last 18 years

Do you know what I find amazing here, Rhonda? Think about it, this poem speaks of genuine love to the core, the only thing is this...you may be alarmed, (in a good way) to know he has always been there, by your side... rain or shine...interesting, isn't it??? at the end of the day.... it is... ;-0
