Nothing More to Say

by Thomas K. Hunt

IT WAS TWENTY YEARS AGO IN THE SECOND MONTH

ON THE TWENTY SECOND DAY

SHE GOT MARRIED TO ANOTHER

THERE WAS NOTHING MORE TO SAY

SHE NEVER WORE A WEDDING GOWN

PEOPLE TALKED IN THAT ONE HORSE TOWN

HER INNOCENTS WAS TAKEN

HER MOMMAS HEART WAS BREAKING

HER DADDY NEVER SAID A WORD OR IF HE DID NO ONE HEARD

HIS HEART WAS FILLED WITH PAIN

HIS LITTLE GIRL GOT MARRIED IN THE RAIN

THE DAY WAS DARK AND THE SUN NEVER SHINED

IT’S ALL SO GO CLEAR IN HIS MIND

IT WAS TWENTY YEARS AGO IN THE SECOND MONTH

ON THE TWENTY SECOND DAY

WHEN A BOY LOST THAT GIRL FOREVER

THERE WAS NOTHING MORE TO SAY

EVEN AFTER ALL THESE YEARS HE STILL BATTLES WITH HIS TEARS

SLEEPLESS NIGHTS AND RESTLESS DAYS STILL SO FULL OF FEARS

HER MEMORY FOREVER PLANTED IN HIS MIND

CHAINS THAT BIND HIS HEART STILL LOCKED FOR ALL THIS TIME

IS IT THE COMFORT OF A LIFE HE USED TO KNOW?

IS IT REALLY TRUE LOVE THAT WON’T LET GO?

IT WAS TWENTY YEARS AGO IN THE SECOND MONTH

ON THE TWENTY SECOND DAY

SHE GOT MARRIED TO ANOTHER

THERE WAS NOTHING MORE TO SAY

whoa...the font is so big it kind of overwhelmed the words, which is a crying shame 'cause the words are powerful enough on their own.

Powerful writing...I have to agree, the font is way too strong, the poem stands on its own very well.
