Forever Lost

by Thomas K. Hunt

Dank dark dusty inside
Broken lives leave nothing to hide
Musky smell pungent to the sense
No way out, it’s far too immense

Buried in this hole with no chance of escape
Is this my destiny is this my fate?
Clawing fingers digging for air
Silent moments lost in despair

Helpless hopeless feeling of numb
Lost in this world of total glum
Peering eyes that see it all
Keep me down within this thrall

Chains of bondage keep me depressed
Under lock and key of house arrest
Always damp always cold
Always feeling way too old

Lost in life
Never to be found
Forever lost
In this burial ground

Terrible loss indeed, man. And you captured it in breathtaking style.

Thomas, I've been feeling like this for a few days now. Maybe not as intense, but yes, sometimes. This month is the year anniversary of my Mom's death and maybe I'm still in the denial stage, because her being gone feels so unreal. Thanks for saying how I feel with style and empathy.
