shyness by Jared Fladelandthe hum of absolute silence
can kill.
it stains the ear with perpetual
truth.
that is why i paint my pictures
with long faces
and wide grins,
cheeks exploding with jovial laughter
with eyes that gleam like two little holes
pricked in nothingness.
i'm two thousand miles from n.
e. where.
and my feet aren't traveling too
quickly.
at a loss I am for concrete words
to describe
my boredom
of this place my eternal home, my life.
memories give me some company
when I cannot speak.
02/08/2007 Author's Note: too much technique, not enough passion. something to gnaw on for awhile I guess.

Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 02/09/07 at 04:01 AM Well, maybe. But what you've got here seems pretty passionate to me. Maybe honest is a better word, but it's still really good. |
Posted by Katerina T Nix on 02/11/07 at 12:22 AM I get the feeling it's a poet's job to hate their best works.... This is really great, Jared. That first stanza is pure magic. Also, if it means anything to you, I've always been good at breaking the silence ;) Kat |
