Dream On!

by Alisa Js

I stumble around in this sea of disbelief
this is almost a dream
but not exactly the kind I had in mind,
when I try to remember those sincere intentions
no, more than that
a declaration
clear and precise,
in a language we all understand
or at least I thought so,
in this great land of freedom and liberty
and justice for all ...

are you kidding?

I was laughed at
ignored,
and not given the time,
of day for that matter or even the night
for what I'm convinced is of utter importance
the rest of my life,
for doing what's right ...

not even a yea or a nay
NOOOOOOO!!!!!
guess I don't matter in this case,
it's all about something, but not about me
they call that the law
they call it protocol,
and if I'm not willing to play
this game,
by 'their' rules ...

I'm quickly tossed aside
like some damp and dripping towel,
good for only one thing
to be wrung out to dry
on this line of confusion,
we're taught there is justice
in this great land
of liberty and freedom we all live,

dream on!

Some damn good venting, too.
