The Hallmark Screw by Jennifer RaganAisles of love cards
Oozing blood red,
Heart shaped chocolates
Lifeless and dead.
Valentine creatures
Claw at your purse,
Waiting to pounce
Their faces perverse.
Bouquets of flowers
Cut short of life
As baby breath withers
The mood is strife.
Diamonds and gem stones
Scream from their cages,
Nickels and dimes
Four weeks of wages.
What ever happened to
I love you?
Dollars and cents,
The Hallmark screw.

Posted by Rusty C Arquette on 02/09/07 at 02:37 PM Perfect! (LOL!) - I've felt for a long time, that thanks to greeting cards, there is a large portion of society that couldn't express their feelings at gunpoint! A copout for true expressions of love and life. - Bravo! - RCat |
