In This Life

by Joe Cramer

In this life, that quietly defines me

Always brings such a sweet somber solace,

Difficult to define, harder to see.

A living that I would never erase,

So often I wonder, as to the why

Things have worked out now the way that they do.

So many times I could lay down and cry

While my spent feelings are still far too few.

Sometimes I want to sing, sometimes to shout!

If I could share my life with another,

Often afraid to let my feelings out.

So, instead I remain quiet, other

Than these words I pen, these words that I say

Of this somber solace, my life today.

Really great language in this thing, man, from start to finish. You bring this thing to life so well. You make it look effortless as hell.
