I Have A Friend

by Joe Cramer

I have a friend who walks

Ten miles one way to work,

To and fro, every day. She talks

To me on her cell phone and I can

Hear her stride as she moves

Through neighborhoods rough

And some that are even rougher.

Her voice is happy, she walks light,

She has the most basic of needs

As she moves through the night.

Author's Note: To a friend, on here... I wish that I could give her a ride, but it's 2,048.84 miles away....

I know that feeling. Really well said. Really casual, conversational. You're so good at that.
