My Muse, My Solace

by Joe Cramer

My muse, my solace, my life, my living,

Friend to my being, to all that I am.

The shadow of your smile, so warm, giving,

Unworthy am I, and all that I can

Say to you, oh Muse of my heart, my friend.

In your eyes I see all things that are good.

True to your heart I go, as I hoped I would.

Muse of my life, whence does your beauty lie?

Make your answer true my muse, haply say

In beauty yet unfound, that cannot hide.

Yet, truth to you must be the only way

Excuse my transgressions my muse, my strife,

Muse of my heart, of my being, my life.
