Not Every Poem

by Joe Cramer

Not every poem that I write

Is written about you.

I know this is what you want

But not exactly what I do.

Sometimes the words

Spill on the page and flow.

Often I sit and blankly stare

At a blank page, I know

I should not be so honest or forthright

But you seem to be of the idea

That all of my effrots are yours.

I find that notion rather queer.

Ah Vanity thy name is (insert here). I liked the rhyming here...it made the poem even more ironic.
