Crumble by Mark Maxey
All I have is a few boxes, my clothes, and a few other things
guess that is all I need
lost my car, home, pets, and alot of stuff
but haven't we all?
War going on in a land far away
boys and girls coming home in wooden boxes
but we've seen this before
We live in a strong nation
but our strength is failing
our values are not the same...as it once was
but there is light up ahead
we just got to remember who we are...why we are here
children being snatched up and missing
children shooting in schools
children being left alone in a world of temptations
but I remember when...
that would have never been allowed...we knew our boundaries as kids
who erased those lines?
men stealing employees pensions
men shutting down factories and moving the work overseas
men taking what is not theirs to take
and no one will stop it
back when...
they would have been shot dead or found hanging from a tree
who has allowed this to plague our brothers and sisters?
suit and ties with a bankroll own our congress
policy is made by pay to play
crafted wicked words are spoken in Washington
but I was taught different...
what ever happened to a nation of people for the people by the people?
I remember who we once were
And I hope it won't ever be forgotten.
