Beyond The Words

by Ken Harnisch

You say you love me
But I confuse you
Me, the myriad of
Kaleidoscopic emotions
That change with every
Spin of the cylinder
And form a brilliant
Collage that is,
In the end,
Beyond the words

I say I love you
And mean it
Within the bounds
Defined in a
Chiseled heart
And in the years
You never knew
And in the arms
I still remember
Beyond the words

Come sleep with me
Tonight; we cannot
Write the poems with
Quite the flair we did
In the day, but we can find
A new one
That will be only ours
Beyond the words

And when we touch
It is more than
Any embrace we ever knew
Which is why,
Despite my raging
Crayola box of colorful
Contradictions,
I can say I love you
And you know it’s true
Beyond the words

wonderful depiction of the textures and layers of individuals in love...sometimes i wonder why my hubby loves me at all, but he does and i am grateful. This is wonderful...just wonderful.

Powerful expression in words of what is "beyond the words". That refrain, within a piece of art made of words, pushes the boundaries of expression, and emphasises the unspeakable. The emphasis on visual, tangible beauty--of "collage" and changing visions-- captured in words-- yet going beyond-- into the future of this new touch, beyond not only words but the past and the present. Inspiring.

*soft smile*.... You always blow me away with the ability you have to touch the deepest parts of a persons being... This poem itself goes beyond the words to the very core of any romantic person's being. Funny how many times a person can feel something like this, and not have the words to express it, then pow.... there it is written by a poet, from a poet's heart. Beautiful Ken!
