It Was (v2)

by David Neubauer

It was cold
and the moon was red, smiling,
bleeding.

It was cold,
and I shivered in my windbreaker.
The lights were brilliant,
streets aglow in crimson and amber,
traffic stopped
-Emerald-
and gone.

It was empty,
everything in the world was
just my hands and the lights.

It was empty,
everything quiet.
The stars played games with the greedy
clouds, pinpricks swallowed,
only to be revived, eventually.
Who can outlast an eternity?

It was Autumn,
and the world would
keep spinning.

It was Autumn,
and now the world kept spinning,
and now it is Winter. And
now I'm alone.

Aw man! You took out my favorite lines...'course it really tightened up the poem. Once again, great read.
