Peripheral Vision

by Joe Cramer

She sits at the corner of my life

Watching me go through the motions.

I see her in my mind's eye,

Sitting there, so very close to me.

She moves around the rough edges

That I am, lightly touching me.

I tend to ramble on and on,

In neverending conversations

That last for hours on end.

Sometimes the wine clouds my mind

Often it merely loosens my tongue.

I wait, watching her evolve

In the far flung corners of my life

Waiting to see how this all plays out.
