Dream Built

by Amanda Conlogue

Oh Dream!
you are a rock
I've clung to tight
fisted, grubby childs fingers
in my pocket worn
smooth into a precious stone
I pull you out
cradled in my open palms
praise you never slipped
through, you stayed
stubborn, imbedded somewhere
in my foundation, never crumbled
and I have built myself
up around you, something strong
determined, I have carved
you out pathways, I'm following
truth, to the heart of me

Amanda, you get to the core of what I've been feeling for many years. Hold on to the dream, don't let it slip, no matter how it looks at times. Yes, there is strength in holding on to a dream, no matter who tries to dissuade you from following it.
