surge

by Peter Humphreys

it had
been many
years acoming
this growing
surge within
that starts
deep down
at the base
of the spine
and spreads
outwards and
deepwards with
each caress
and as it
overwhelms
your mind and
leaves your body
spent in rivulets
of sweat
you wonder
o
you wonder
why the ones
before had
not touched
in that way
and as the
wave subsides
and you
open wide
your eyes
you know
o yes
you know
you
know

In perfect form, a surge of sweetness through time and body sent, the past and present meet in this wave of poetry, this caress. I love the placement of that wonderous "o".

This poem was one very powerful surge, indeed. Beautiful words you have strung together here, Peter. Well done and thank you for sharing this piece. -Kat :)

This is so magical! If we wait, have faith, and vision to realized this moment, we may gain that gem of knowledge. Beautiful! Thanks.
