is it giving up?

by Brynn Dizack

she thought
ah--------
this is it / the moment when the body becomes an object
the very moment you thought science had lied, and

one
was no longer enough.

spheres have disappeared from our skies.
we are days without sun,
and nights without

she rolls over,
already throat-deep in sleep:

i walk my pillows to the living room

i wonder if this is the endingi shouldn't have come here.
i know how the rain goes.
i am used to this game.

i will go home.
i will say,

i want you to close your eyes
i want to close mine

i want to pretend you are someone
else.
