Nos Da Sunshine by Dave FitzgeraldNos Da Sunshine, you need to rest.
Try to close your eyes.
Think about a happy time,
Dry you tears and please don't cry.
There isn't any boogieman,
He doesn't shout out BOO!
So close your eyes and go to sleep,
I'm protecting you.
I promise there's no sock monster
Hiding in your drawers.
I came to sing a lullaby
It was my shadow you saw.
Hush hush my son, you'll be fine.
Things aren't what they seem.
There's nothing hiding 'neath the bed.
It was only a bad dream.
So don't be afraid of spooks Sunshine,
The kind you cannot see.
I'm always watching over you.
The only ghost here
Is me. 01/26/2007

Posted by Angela Nuzzo on 01/27/07 at 06:21 AM Very nice, Dave. Great images of childhood fears. The poem is like a Disney movie - on the surface it LOOKS like it's for children, but underneath lies a deeper/darker meaning. |
