Nos Da Sunshine

by Dave Fitzgerald

Nos Da Sunshine, you need to rest.
Try to close your eyes.
Think about a happy time,
Dry you tears and please don't cry.

There isn't any boogieman,
He doesn't shout out BOO!
So close your eyes and go to sleep,
I'm protecting you.

I promise there's no sock monster
Hiding in your drawers.
I came to sing a lullaby
It was my shadow you saw.

Hush hush my son, you'll be fine.
Things aren't what they seem.
There's nothing hiding 'neath the bed.
It was only a bad dream.

So don't be afraid of spooks Sunshine,
The kind you cannot see.
I'm always watching over you.
The only ghost here
Is me.

Very nice, Dave. Great images of childhood fears. The poem is like a Disney movie - on the surface it LOOKS like it's for children, but underneath lies a deeper/darker meaning.
