Very Loveless

by Christopher Shin

Do what you can
while you have
the colors in your hair.
When grey and silver
does not tempt you
with age.

Yet only to find
lovers kisses
are shunned and
ignored by the
very object you
can not have.

When fortune and gold
can not give you
what you desire the most.

To be held and love
as the immortality
of youth drips
and dries in your veins.

Only to watch beauty
kiss beauty and spurn
the beast that glares
from the silver pools.

Slowly to be added
to the diamonds that flutter
down my face.

Sadly I must decline
as my eyes draw heavy
with the truth.
That love is what it
is.

A hein that can
not or will not
be snared by my
feable heart.
